LYN reports
Several folks visited Dar, hosted Lord's Days, repaired a significant plumbing issue, one person visited an elderly neighbor and had a great conversation about life, numerous reports of shoveling snow for neighbors and in one case they brought food and helped them deal with a difficult situation bringing the Lord's comfort/peace.
I am sure there are many more stories. This is our life in Christ. This is our story of good news. Let us continue to add to it and change our world by loving our neighbor.

Area Update 1-21-2014
Hello everyone. Our sincerest condolences to Dar and Betty Johnson for the death of their grandson, Zach. Our prayers are with you both, and your family! The funeral today was beautiful. And, of course, our prayers continue for healing for Dar.
Men, don't forget that the first session of talks that precede men's retreat at tonight at the Center at 7:30!
From Mark:
LYN weekend is this weekend.
Who is your neighbor? Anyone
What can you do? Invite folks over for Lord's day or brunch, have your women's/men's group volunteer at a nursing facility, the food bank, help someone in the branch with a project, visit Dar or Chuck or anyone home bound, invite a couple to go out to dinner, check the google doc, most importantly ask the Lord.
Love your neighbor as yourself.
Please check with Kim DeCelles before giving Chuck Tychsen medication.
Feb 15 is Tubing at St. Pat's. more to follow as that gets closer!

Area Update, 1-16-2014
Hello everyone! Thanks to all who came to the Area gathering Sunday - great discussion about Love Your Neighbor activities. Great to learn about all the Lord is doing there. We will continue on at this point, in our East Area, with weekends designated for this purpose, to free up time and opportunities to loving our neighbors. Please send stories, as discussed, as discussed to Mark. When we post them on the blog, we will remove your names, so no one feels uncomfortable. Next LYN weekend is the weekend of the Jan 24-26.
Branch Meeting: There is a branch meeting this weekend, Sunday, 3-5, at the Center.
A word from John Z to the men:
Brothers:
The men's retreat begins next week at the center. The focus of the retreat is: “The Story of the Bible.” Craig Lent is leading the retreat.
Craig, Kerry Koller and John Zwerneman are giving all of the talks.
The retreat starts Tuesday Jan 21, 7:30 - 9 p.m.
The next date is Tuesday Jan 28, 7:30 - 9 p.m.
The main retreat time is Friday Jan 31 starting at 7:30, and Saturday Feb 1 starting at 8:30 a.m. and ending around 9 p.m.
Cost of the retreat is $35 per person. Saturday lunch and Lord's Day supper will be provided. There will be beverages and snacks after each Tuesday session, and after the Jan 31 Friday night session.
Please let your coordinator know as soon as possible if you are attending or not. You can pay the retreat fee at any one of the sessions, or send it in to Mike Zengel at the center (if you have any concern about the fee, please talk to your coordinator).
Please pray for all the preparations and for all who will be attending.
Also from John Z, to all:
Brothers and Sisters:
Just a reminder that we are celebrating Epiphany this coming Sunday (originally postponed because of the arctic storm). The preschool group will perform the traditional pageant at the start of the meeting. The rumor about live camels as part of the show is not confirmed, but I recommend seats near the front and arriving early so you can spot the Wise men of the East straightaway!
O come let us adore Him!
John
LOOKING FOR STORAGE:
The Saverine's are looking for storage space for the gentleman, Tom Granger, who is moving in with them by the end of the month. Contact the Saverines for more details.

Area Blog: http://eastareapop.blogspot.com/ (ATTENTION GOOGLE CALENDAR users - you can easily SYNC the area calendar, from the blog, onto your calendar, similar process as doing so from Trinity School calendar. Let me know if you have questions about that!)
Prayers continue for the Saverine's son, for Judy's son, for Dar and Betty, for Tia's Aunt Carol, for Jeannie. Let's also pray for Kris D and Aileen M who have been sick most of this week.

Area Update 1-10-2014
There is an Area Meeting this Sunday, 3-5 in the Mirror
Room at the Center. We will have a chance to pray, and share about any
Love Your Neighbor experiences we have had. The soccer arena will be
open for the kids to play. If everyone will bring a snack to share,
that would be great.
Hoping everyone survived the blizzard, and are now back on schedule. Most of the kids have returned to school, except Trinity students who are working from home this week anyway for the annual "Project Week".
That's it for this week - short and simple!
Blessings, Jen

A Note from Sharon S in sunny Florida, sent last week:
We are settled in Florida and enjoying the warm weather. We have had some great family time,
God
is blessing us. You are all in our prayers. Talked to Betty this
morning and she is so greatful for the POP support. We are glad Darr is
back in South Bend and at St Joe.
Love you all, you are in our prayers. Sharon
We miss you all, Sharon, but are so grateful you didn't have to be here for this intense weather!
Blessings, Jen

Google Calendar Possibilities
For those of you who are google calendar users, you can sync our area calendar with your own by pressing the button on lower right corner of the calendar on the right menu bar....for those who have children at Trinity, it is the same process as connecting to calendar on the Trinity website. Hoping some of you will find this a useful feature.

Reviving this long forgotten blog....
Reviving this long forgotten blog!
As a new year begins, we're trying to find ways to further streamline communication for the area, so we are going to begin posting the weekly updates here, as well as emailing. Please feel free to send pics, stories, etc, Love Your Neighbor opportunities or any sharing that is relevant to our lives together in Christ, to share with the Area. Those should be sent to jenjenwh@gmail.com to be posted here.
By the way, it's kind of fun to look back through old posts here - all from more than 2 years ago....
Blessings to all, Happy New Year!
